“Cheap Casio calculator” - a new term used to imply counterfeit and fake goods

Recently, salespeople of “fake” products have used the phrase “buy cheap Casio calculators to sell for big profits” as a specific term to refer to counterfeit and fake Casio calculators.

The Market Surveillance Sub-Department of Ca Mau Province recently conducted a surprise inspection, discovering and seizing hundreds of suspected counterfeit Casio calculators. Binh Tay Import-Export Joint Stock Company (BITEX) supported the authorities in inspecting the suspected counterfeit products.

“Cheap” Casio calculators are counterfeit and fake goods

Notably, most store owners admitted to sourcing counterfeit Casio calculators from a product salesperson. Daily, this salesperson of “fake” products visited stores and bookstores to offer Casio calculators. With the attractive pitch, “Do you want to buy cheap Casio calculators to sell for big profits?”, many profit-driven store owners agreed to purchase them immediately.

Since then, the phrase “Cheap Casio calculator” has been implicitly understood to mean counterfeit and fake goods. This phrase was even blatantly written on sales invoices.

According to a sales invoice for counterfeit and fake goods seized by the authorities, the genuine Casio fx-570ES Plus is listed by BITEX at 451,000 VND, but when bought “cheap”, it costs only 160,000 VND. The genuine Casio fx-570MS is priced at 386,000 VND, but the “cheap” version is only 75,000 VND; while the “cheap” Casio LC-403TV is only 38,000 VND compared to the genuine price of 180,000 VND... Therefore, customers must be very careful not to buy counterfeit and fake goods.

The tactics for selling counterfeit Casio calculators are becoming increasingly sophisticated and difficult to penalize severely, because store owners only purchase counterfeit goods in small quantities and do not stock them, in order to cope with sudden inspections by authorities. Therefore, although many stores selling counterfeit Casio calculators have been discovered, only a few have been severely penalized.

BITEX supports the Market Surveillance Sub-Department in evaluating counterfeit and fake Casio calculators

With over 25 years of exclusive distribution of Casio calculators in Vietnam, BITEX has spent nearly that much time striving to implement numerous measures against counterfeit goods, such as introducing the modern-technology BITEX anti-counterfeit stamp.

As for consumers, before purchasing a Casio calculator or any other product, they should learn how to distinguish between genuine and counterfeit goods to protect their own interests. If you have any questions, please click here>>> to learn more.
