This is the first year the competition has been organized after An Giang and Kien Giang provinces implemented administrative unit mergers. The scale of the competition has therefore surged, attracting more than 1,500 participating students – the highest number in recent years. All contestants have passed strict selection rounds from school and district levels to win the right to compete in the provincial arena.

This year's competition continues to record the participation of students in 5 subjects for high school level, including: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology; and Mathematics for middle school level. The strong increase in the number of contestants not only reflects the new administrative boundaries but also shows the widespread influence and positive response from schools, teachers, and students across the province.

Speaking at the competition, Ms. Tran Thanh Thao – General Director of Binh Tay Import-Export Joint Stock Company (BITEX), the companion unit with Departments of Education and Training nationwide in implementing the competition – said: “With 1,500 contestants participating, this year's competition is truly a great festival of intellect for An Giang Province in its new development phase. No matter what the results are, your presence here is already a success – because you dared to challenge yourselves and enter a highly competitive and prestigious academic arena.”

According to Ms. Thao, in the context of digital transformation and the strong development of artificial intelligence, integrating technology into education is no longer a trend but has become an inevitable requirement. “But more than a record, what we cherish most is the educational value that the competition brings. The competition has contributed to innovating teaching and learning methods, encouraging students to think logically, master tools, and turn handheld calculators into a means of supporting modern scientific thinking. Many generations of students who grew up from this playground have now become engineers, scientists, teachers, and technology experts, actively contributing to society,” Ms. Thao emphasized.

It is known that the Calculator Math Competition for Excellent Students was first organized in 1995 in Ho Chi Minh City, then spread nationwide. In 2024, the Vietnam Record Association and the Vietnam Records Organization officially recognized the record for the “Longest-running Annual Calculator Math Competition for Excellent Students” for Ho Chi Minh City.

With the expanded scale after the merger and the strong response from educational units, this year's competition in An Giang continues to assert its position as one of the prestigious academic playgrounds, contributing to promoting the learning movement, innovating teaching and learning methods, and inspiring a passion for scientific research among students across the province.
