Vinh Long, April 4, 2026 – The Provincial Excellent Student Competition in Solving Mathematics on Handheld Calculators for the 2025 – 2026 academic year officially opened at Luu Van Liet High School, continuing to assert its position as one of the leading prestigious and large-scale academic playgrounds in the field of mathematics education.
This year, the competition marks a milestone of outstanding development as its scale has been expanded following the merger of administrative boundaries, gathering more than 2,500 outstanding students from three provinces: Vinh Long, Ben Tre (former), and Tra Vinh (former). This is not only an impressive number in terms of scale but also reflects the strong spread of the movement of learning and applying technology in teaching and learning mathematics in the Mekong Delta region. With a large number of participating students, the competition was held simultaneously at 3 schools: Luu Van Liet High School; Ben Tre Secondary School; and Nguyen Thien Thanh High School.

Representative of Vinh Long Department of Education and Training, Mr. Trinh Van Ngoan, presented flowers and a letter of appreciation to Ms. Tran Thanh Thao - General Director of BITEX Company
The competition is hosted by the Department of Education and Training of Vinh Long Province, in coordination with Binh Tay Import-Export Joint Stock Company (BITEX). Over many years, the competition has become a highly meaningful annual activity, contributing to discovering and nurturing students with outstanding abilities in logical thinking, calculation skills, and the application of technology to solve mathematical problems.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the representative of the Department of Education and Training of Vinh Long Province, Mr. Trinh Van Ngoan - Deputy Director of the Department, emphasized: “The competition is not only a place for students to demonstrate their academic capacity, but also an environment to help them practice scientific thinking, the ability to apply technology, and exam courage. The expansion of the inter-provincial scale this year is an important step forward, contributing to enhancing academic exchange and improving the quality of education in the region.”

All students received certificates of participation in the competition
As a companion throughout the program, BITEX Company continues to assert its pioneering role in promoting the application of technology in education. Representing the enterprise, Ms. Tran Thanh Thao – General Director of BITEX Company, shared: “We are living in an era where technology is not just a tool, but also a “companion” in learning and creativity. The application of handheld calculators in learning mathematics not only helps students solve problems faster and more accurately, but more importantly, opens up new approaches – where thinking is unlocked, and old limits are overcome.”

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the competition, the CEO of BITEX emphasized the spirit of citizenship in the digital age through the application of calculators in natural science subjects. She stressed: “Today's calculation is not just a math problem, but also a stepping stone to bring you closer to the important competencies of a digital citizen: logical thinking, analytical ability, and the spirit of self-study.”
According to the Organizing Committee, this year's exam questions continue to be developed with a competency-based approach, combining curriculum knowledge and the ability to use handheld calculators to solve practical problems. This contributes to encouraging students to not only master theory but also know how to apply technological tools flexibly and effectively.

In particular, the Excellent Student Competition in Solving Mathematics on Handheld Calculators has been recognized by the Vietnam Record Association and the Vietnam Records Organization as the “Longest-running annual excellent student competition in solving mathematics on handheld calculators”. This is a testament to the endurance, prestige, and long-term value that the competition brings to the education sector.
With careful preparation from the Organizing Committee, the companionship of relevant units, and the determination of the candidates, the 2025 – 2026 academic year competition is expected to continue to make its mark, contributing to improving the quality of teaching and learning mathematics, while discovering young talents for the country.
