VINH LONG PROVINCE 2025 EXCELLENT STUDENT HANDHELD CALCULATOR MATHEMATICS COMPETITION

Vinh Long, March 8, 2025 – To promote the mathematics learning movement and the application of technology in education, the Department of Education and Training of Vinh Long Province, in collaboration with Binh Tay Import-Export Joint Stock Company (BITEX), organized the 2025 Handheld Calculator Mathematics Competition for Excellent Students. The competition took place at Luu Van Liet High School, attracting nearly 730 outstanding students from 90 schools across the province.

Held annually, the competition is not only an intellectual playground for middle and high school students but has also become a proud tradition, contributing to discovering and nurturing young mathematical talents in the education sector.

Over many years of organization, the competition has proven its important role in improving calculation skills, developing logical thinking, and applying technology to learning. This is especially true in the digital era, with the application of AI and technology in practical learning.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ms. Tran Thanh Thao (General Director of BITEX) affirmed: 'We are proud to accompany the competition to encourage students to love mathematics and access modern technology. Entering the competition, students do not just compete for prizes; more importantly, this is an opportunity to challenge themselves, learn from peers, and build resilience.'

The competition is open to two groups: middle school and high school students. Contestants participate in the individual round, solving practical mathematical problems using handheld calculators with high accuracy and speed. The exam content includes: Algebra, Calculus, Statistics, and practical application problems. Contestants are allowed to use handheld calculator models approved by the Ministry of Education and Training, such as Casio fx-580VN X, fx-880BTG, etc.

The organizing committee awards many valuable prizes, including First, Second, and Third prizes, along with certificates for the most outstanding contestants.

The 2025 Handheld Calculator Mathematics Competition for Excellent Students is not only a place for students to showcase their talents but also contributes to building a dynamic and creative young generation, ready to conquer challenges in learning and life. The organizing committee hopes that the competition will continue to receive strong attention and response from students, teachers, and parents.

With a journey spanning many years, the competition has traveled to many provinces and cities, increasingly asserting its value. Notably, in 2024, the Vietnam Record Association and the Vietnam Records Organization recognized the record for the “Longest-running Annual Handheld Calculator Mathematics Competition for Excellent Students” for Ho Chi Minh City. It is hoped that, with the competition's long-standing history and the organizational scale of the Vinh Long Department of Education & Training, this unit will also quickly establish a competition record for the land of the “nine dragons”.
