Ben Tre: Nearly 400 students eagerly participate in the handheld calculator math competition for the 2024–2025 school year

On the morning of May 11, 2025, the provincial-level fast handheld calculator math competition took place in Ben Tre province, an engaging academic playground attracting nearly 400 students from middle and high schools across the province. The competition was co-organized by the provincial Department of Education and Training, the Ben Tre Provincial Youth Union, and Binh Tay Import-Export Joint Stock Company (BITEX) – the official distributor of Casio calculators in Vietnam.

The opening ceremony was honored by the presence of Mr. Vo Van Be Hai – Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ben Tre Province, Ms. Vo Thi Phuong Thao – Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union and President of the Provincial Pioneer Organization Council, and Ms. Duong Thi Kieu Diem – Deputy Director of the Provincial Youth and Children Activity Center. The presence of the delegates demonstrated the deep concern of local leaders for education, especially in promoting students' access to modern mathematical learning methods through technology.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Tran Thanh Thao – General Director of BITEX Company – emphasized the role of the competition in training logical thinking, quick reflex skills, and active learning for students in the digital age. “The Casio calculator is now not only a calculating device but also a bridge helping students access knowledge in a smart and practical way,” Ms. Thao stated.

Initiated in 2006, this is the 15th time the competition has been held in Ben Tre province. After nearly two decades, the competition has become a prestigious annual activity, providing a positive learning environment for students across the province. Notably, in 2024, the competition was recognized by the Vietnam Record Association and the Vietnam Records Organization (VietKings) as the “Longest-running Annual Handheld Calculator Math Competition for Excellent Students.”
