Handheld Calculator Math Competition in Bac Kan – A Two-Decade Journey of Spreading Knowledge

On April 20, 2025, the Department of Education and Training of Bac Kan Province and Binh Tay Import-Export Joint Stock Company (BITEX) co-organized the Handheld Calculator Math Competition for the 2024–2025 academic year for high school students. For middle school students, the province held the competition on April 6, 2025.

Attending the competition were representatives from the Department of Education & Training of Bac Kan Province (Mr. Doan Van Huong - Deputy Director of the Department) and Mr. Nguyen Dac Luc – Deputy General Director of BITEX Company.

The Handheld Calculator Math Competition is an academic playground first organized in 1995 in Ho Chi Minh City. Later, the Ministry of Education & Training upgraded the scale of the competition to a National Competition, held annually.

For a long time, the competition has proven to be an effective combination of education and technology, helping students develop logical thinking, problem-solving skills, and become familiar with modern learning tools.

Since 2005, the competition has been held regularly in Bac Kan, becoming an annual educational activity warmly received by a large number of teachers, students, and parents. Notably, in 2024, the competition was recognized by the Vietnam Records Association as the "Longest-running Annual Handheld Calculator Math Competition" – a source of pride not only for BITEX but also for the entire education sector, including Bac Kan Province.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Dac Luc shared: "We believe that the competition not only honors outstanding students but also contributes to spreading the spirit of active learning, the desire to reach further, and innovative thinking – the foundation for a generation of global citizens."
